Default The women get better!

Hi guys,
Just a quick one - check out www.Aussiestrength.com for my write ups for the competition we held this weekend - under Strongman and then Camden/FDSS at the top. Check it out anyway - it's our official Australian Strength Sports site !
BUT my main point is that the girls did a typical WSM type stone run.
My 21yo daughter loaded the 50, 55, 60 and 70 stones after a couple of weeks of training for this comp. Susie and her main competitor Sue both completed the stone run by loading the 80 - though Susie frustratingly fluffed the 80 a few times to finish 2nd in the stones (but first overall! ).
Then, Sue Metcalf cemented her reputation over here (no pun intended) by doing a couple of loads to oil drums after their events were over.
She did a 100kg with ease and then did a 110kg (this stone is generally regarded as being more like a 115kg) - this has yet to be weighed and may now stand as the heaviest stone lifted by a woman in Australia!
Good work girls.
It was a great day and we look forward to the next one in a couple of months - when we are clearly going to have to make the stone run heavier for the girls...or should I say Grrrl's given the intensity of the competition?
Lance
PS I came 2nd by a point due to missing the 155kg stone.

Brothers, how are you?
An update from the Antipodes again.
So, as some of you may be aware I was involved in a test shoot for a TV program on stone lifting. A chap called Peter McAllister, an Aussie palaeoanthropologist, has written a book: Manthropology. He suggests modern man is a bit of a pussy, and it appears that ancient feats of strength and endurance are as yet unmatched by us.
Specifically, a 480kg boulder in Athens bearing the inscription, Eumastes lifted me. Peter told me it was over 2m across in one dimension. Our bit, was him chatting about this feat, lifting a 63kg girls stone and then trying the 113kg – which I then lift in one motion and then skeptically renounce the ancient lift as impossible. Which I believe it is, certainly without a little more equipment – he didn’t grip round it and lift it for sure! I have Matt to thank for this apparently, he pointed them in Camden Strongman’s direction, where we have stones and myself, having some knowledge about the history of these things – which I of course owe directly to Matt, Bill and MILO.
They are going to shoot for real in September, and said they will stay in touch. I had a good chat with Peter afterwards (it took several takes, so I got in a wee stone workout myself – lifted a 144 in the warmup to ensure I was “on”) about the Dinnie’s, Arthur Saxon and modern man. We’ll see what happens. It was pretty funny and surreal.
Secondly, at Berry Highland Games, we contested the Bundanoon stones and I actually lifted all 5. A massive PB and boost before Australia’s Strongest Man in 2 weeks, the heaviest stone being 165kg and doing it in 31 seconds. Here’s a link:

I’m feeling strong on the stones (and my tacky application techniques are refined) so am hoping to get a 180kg at the competition! Even if I fail to set the competition on fire with anything else.
And lastly, I am getting an article I have written and plan to submit to MILO proof read by someone at the moment – it would be truly an honour to get published in MILO and be alongside some of you guys in print. We’ll see.
Until the next time.
Lance.
PS - make sure your volume is turned down when you watch the clip - Susie gets a bit excited right next to the camera!

It's about how most doctors don't know much about treating avid weightlifters and athlete's and may need a push in the right direction.
Otherwise they will just tell you to stop lifting heavy.
Only it's a bit longer.
Still waiting on my proof readers opinion.

I think that is a great topic. I'm sure many have suffered similar experience of going to see a doctor regarding a lifting injury and the doctor seems clueless. I have a screw in one of my wrists from an old bull-riding injury (when I was much smaller at only 225 pounds) and about a year ago while deadlifting I got a sharp pain and you could see the end of the screw poking out. It was tough to get the doctor to even understand what a deadlift was. He said "you mean you just bend over and pick the bar up..." I say "yes" and then I heard how it was probably bad for my back. On the other hand, there are doctors who lift who are perfect to see.

By the way, I was an editor on Law Review while in law school and won a writing award for having two legal pieces published before I graduated. So, I've got a bit of experience in editing, if you need any help, I'd be glad to lend a hand. let me know.
