hi all. just stumbled onto this site and am very interested. i am a strength and conditioning coach for a local high school wrestling team. for the last few years we have done traditional weight training and have incorporated kettlebells and much crossfit training as well.
i would like to incorporate rope training this summer and wondered what all would be needed to do so? we have light weights 103 lbers up to 189 lbers working out. there will be 5-6 wrestlers working out this summer. i can see the benefits of much that i have seen on u tube etc and we already use a rope to pull a partner many lengths of the gym using a rope but i like the pole exercises i've seen etc. anyway, any thoughts on the use of this system specific to wrestling as well as what would need to be ordered as i will have to go thru the few parent and support groups to get the money. is there any clinics being offered on the east coast in the near future? i teach high school pe and offer ten classes in weight training and fitness etc and might like to incorporate battling ropes in these classes but would like to see first hand. thanks in advance mike Last edited by yak rider : 04-20-2008 at 12:24 AM. |

Hello Mike and thanks for your interest in the Battling Ropes training system. There is no doubt that the training would make a big difference with your wrestlers no matter what their weight or level is. You may of seen on my Battling Ropes site and noticed that alot of the olympic wrestlers are using the training system now. If you would like to email me directly and we can set up a time to talk and I will give you some specifics about the system. Also, Im not sure where you are located, however I do the vast majority of the training with groups and individuals here in North Carolina. My email is. john@powerropes.com.

I work with athletes down to 65lbs and they can use the ropes. Obviously not as great as the 260lb guys I have using them but they are really great for all levels.

I just ordered the training DVDs for "Ropes". I looked @ this for some time and believe it is the missing link in our wrestling program. I already run an alternative program using logs, tires, milk cans, running/passing/throwing stones. At tournaments, our wrestlers standout in the 3rd period. What is difficult is the transitiion from football; they're beat up, their strength gains from summer are gone. We only have 3 weeks to get their weight dialed in, and balance conditioning w/ mat time. Becoming certified would give me the basis for introducing this year round as part of an ongoing S/C program that supports athletic needs in and out of season. I live in Wisconsin, would like some input from you on pursuing this process. (PERSONAL NOTE) I'm going to incorporate the ropes in my trainig as I prepare to carry the Kviahellan next summer, Bill Crawford has been a great initial contact on this. Bill Hime
