INGRID MARCUM

Ingrid Marcum is a world-class elite athlete who started out as a competitive gymnast. She competed in gymnastics at William & Mary college where she later became the Strength and Conditioning Coach, setting up training programs for the athletes. From there, Ingrid began competing in Olympic weightlifting at the elite level and became the U.S. National Champion in her weight class in June 2009. She is the current national champ and continues to train at Olympic weightlifting pushing herself to
improve her lifts and weightlifting career. Ingrid also excels at the Bobsled and is a member of the U.S. Bobsled world team and competes for the U.S. around the world in Bobsledding. Ingrid is now training and preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympics in the Bobsled. She is a certified Battling Ropes coach and sponsored by Battling Ropes as she prepares for the 2010 Winter Olympics. She is also the star of the new Battling Ropes training DVD, Hurricane Ingrid, The Workout.

TIM ANDERSON

Tim Anderson is a professional firefighter living in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. He also doubles as a C.P.T., an RKC II instructor and a Z-health Movement Coach. BETSY COLLIE

Betsy Collie, The Queen Of Lean, has been in the fitness profession for 20 years, specializing in group exercise and fitness and dance. She has spent her entire life moving—starting dance at the age of 3 years old! She has extensive formal dance training over the last 20+ years including ballet, jazz, modern, dance, hip-hop, and gymnastics. She received a scholarship to and attended the very prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts for Dance in Winston Salem., NC and was also chosen to attend the exclusive Governor’s School of North Carolina for Dance. She was also a professional cheerleader for the World League. She has instructed and choreographed dance and movement for everyone from pre-schoolers to debutantes, to collegiate dancers. She has taught group fitness classes to all populations from the early days of aerobics and step through the current trends of Pilates, Bosu, Cardio Box, and Muscle
Pump. She is a personal trainer as well. Betsy is the Owner, Co-Founder, and Head Kettlebell Instructor at Rapid Results Fitness located in Durham, NC. The studio specializes in group kettlebell training classes and personal training also utilizing yoga and joint mobility work and ropes. Betsy is currently certified as a Russian Kettlebell Instructor Level 2 (RKC II) , through Z Health Level I Certified Trainer,and through the American Fitness and Aerobics Association (AFAA) to teach group Fitness, Pilates, and Personal Training. As an RKC Level 2 Instructor she has trained all walks of life from housewife, to elite athlete, to grandfather and everything in between. In addition, she instructs at the National RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) certification courses that are taught throughout the year in various states. Just recently, she was appointed by Pavel Tsatsouline along with 9 other instructors to train the Navy SEALs in Kettlebell training. She also has competed nationally in Figure Competitions in the NPC and the NPA placing 2nd most recently in the summer of 2008 at the NPC Figure Competition.


JOSEPH ROBERTS

Joe Roberts is a career NCO with 18 years of active duty service in the Army. His background covers both conventional and Special Operations units. He first contacted John Brookfield a few years ago to gain some knowledge on grip strength through the use of Kettlebells. However, after getting a small introduction to the training and methodology of the Battling Ropes, he completely changed his concept on physical/mental conditioning. From 'practical to tactical', Joe has used the Battling Ropes from a controlled environment here in the USA to combat zones to maintain conditioning at the highest level possible, despite less than ideal surroundings. He and teammates alike have used the Battling Ropes in
the USA, Horn of Africa, and even in Iraq. Recently, along with John Brookfield, Joe has personally used the Battling Ropes as a PROVEN form of rehabilitaion (injuries resulting from road side bomb/IED) to a form of hypoxic training combined with altitude generator systems. He’s also used his personal time to attend training such as 'Caveman Intructor' training, CrossFit level 1, CrossFit Nutrition Certification, CrossFit Basic Barbell Certification, Modern Army Combatives level 1 and 2, and The Pit Kaimuki Seminar.

JAMES WOODALL

James Woodall owner of Woodall’s Fitness Studio in Clayton, North Carolina. He has been a certified personal trainer since 1991 and has owned his own personal training company since 1993. James was a traveling personal trainer in Las Vegas and he traveled to client’s homes and offices all over the Las Vegas valley from 1991-2003. He graduated from UNLV in 1995 with a B.S. in Fitness and Sports Management with an emphasis in Kinesiology. The local TV news station KVBC which is an NBC affiliate, featured James on Sunday mornings as the local fitness expert. In 2003, my family and he moved to Selma, NC. In November 2004, James opened the doors to a by-appointment-only fitness studio. Also from 2004-2006, he was a volunteer firefighter and first responder with the Thanksgiving Fire Department in Selma, NC. James was certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 1991 as a personal fitness
trainer and held that certification from 1991-2006. Also in Las Vegas he was a Rehabilitation Specialist and Massage Therapist as well as Touch for Health certified. In April 2008, James took on a new certification called Z-Health. He is now R-phase certified and in July 2008, he will be taking the I-phase certification of Z-Health. JON BRUNEY

Jon Bruney is one of the few to achieve the grueling Level II Battling Ropes certified status. Jon has been on The Today Show and is listed in Ripley's Believe It or Not. He, along with John Brookfield, recently set a new world record by pulling a 31,000-lbs.-plus semi truck for the distance of one mile in a time of one hour and thirty-six minutes. Thousands of people have witnessed one of Jon's Pressing the Limits motivational strength events. He is the pastor of Zion Missionary Church in Fremont, Indiana. Jon is also owner of Swager Strength Equipment.




LEVEL I COACHES

CHIP MORTON

Chip Morton graduated from North Carolina University in 1985 and spent his next six years as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level where he worked with The Ohio State University and Penn State University. Chip is now in his 16th season as a head strength and conditioning coach in professional
football. Chip has recently become one of the first two professional football coaches to be certified in the Battling Ropes training system.


RAY OLIVER

Ray Oliver has been involved in professional and college sports for over 23 years. Ray is currently a strength and conditioning coach with a professional football team. He has coached at major colleges such as the University of Kentucky and the University of Kansas. Ray has been a head strength and conditioning coach with
professional basketball and has spent his last four seasons coaching in professional football. Ray has recently become one of the first two professional football coaches to be certified in the Battling Ropes training system.


SCOTT RAMSDELL

Scott is President and founder of Athletic Performance Incorporated (API) which is located in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. He has an athletic conditioning background that has lasted 20 years. Scott has two Associates of Arts degrees from North Hennepin Community College, a professional certificate in Law Enforcement and is MN POST Board
Certified. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota with a major in Kinesiology, Rhetoric and Sociology. Scott has owned, operated, and worked within the fitness and conditioning community in all aspects of employment (including work as a general fitness employee in a fitness center, as a personal trainer in a privately owned facility and as a strength and conditioning coach for athletes). He has also held numerous national certifications in the fitness/conditioning field as well as in the law enforcement defensive tactics field. Scott has designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for amateur and professional athletes. His strength and conditioning programs are highly sought after and he has been an invited speaker for many seminars within the fitness field. Scott is the founder of the Caveman Training™ system. Scott currently trains over twenty top professional, college and amateur athletes. He has also been a certified instructor of police officers in many different disciplines over the past eight years. MATT OLSON

Matt has been a police officer for 10 years in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a certified personal trainer, and an API Caveman Training instructor. He is also a fitness instructor with the Minneapolis Police Department . Finally, he is the Vice President of Athletic Performance, Inc., located in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. He is also currently strength & fitness
coach for UFC stars Brock Lesnar and Sean Sherk, and Muay Thai/MMA star Kaitlin Young.


JUSTIN CHIN

Justin Chin is the first certified ‘Battling Ropes’ coach in California. He has been a personal trainer since 2003 after his leave from the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Sergeant during the invasion of Iraq. Justin has acquired numerous certifications and credentials through well accredited organizations such as the National
Academy of Sports Medicine, National Council on Strength and Fitness, Kettlebell Concepts, USA Weightlifting, and USA Powerlifting. Justin represented the U.S. Olympic Committee and 24 Hour Fitness during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics as a Fitness Ambassador, assisting U.S. athletes at the High Performance Training Center. JULIO ANTA

Julio Anta is the owner of Anta's Fitness and Self Defense in Miami (Doral), FL. He has been involved in fitness and martial arts for over 35 years. He was a competitive bodybuilder in the early 80s. He has been featured and written articles for numerous martial arts and fitness magazines. He has also appeared on numerous local, national and

FRANK DIMEO

Frank DiMeo is the owner of CrossFit Gulf Coast and is certified as a CrossFit Level 1 Instructor and in CrossFit Level 1 Kettlebells. He is an NSCA-CPT and a USAW Club Coach. Frank has also completed the Dave Schmitz Reactive Resistance Band Workshop, Mike Mahler's Level 1 Kettlebell Seminar, the Kettlebell Concepts Level 1 Seminar and the
Tom Mitchell Strongman Basics program. He has over 25 years of martial arts experience and pioneered a full-contact fight club starting in 1974.


STEVE MOSLEY

Steven Mosley is a coach with the Battling Ropes System and works closely with John Brookfield on many other projects. Steven has over two decades of law enforcement and corrections experience. He currently serves as the Director of Training for Force One Readiness and the Georgia Tactical Officers Association. In
addition to work-related experience, Steven has practiced martial arts for over 20 years and holds a first-degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo Karate, Filipino Kali, is a Senior Instructor under the British Combat Association and is also an Apprentice Instructor in Filipino Martial Arts & Jun Fan Gung Fu under Guro Dan Inosanto. Within the fitness arena, Steven’s accomplishments include USA Weightlifting Club Coach, a certified American Kettlebell Club Lifting Coach, a Crossfit© Level One Trainer and an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer. He is also a certified Warrior Diet/CFT Level Two Instructor. Steven is owner and founder of a martial arts/fitness training business, Combat Hard Fitness & Fighting, located in the Atlanta area.


BRUCE PAHL

Bruce Pahl is the owner of Immortal Martial Arts & a certified Battling Ropes® coach under John Brookfield. Immortal Martial Arts is a leader in the industry & provides quality combat training & protective gear & Wing Chun/JKD wooden training dummies. Bruce is a certified Full instructor in Jeet Kune Do & Filipino martial arts

CHARLIE LYSAK

Charlie Lysak is the founder of Primal Strength & Conditioning, which is a dynamic program for developing strength for real fighting, as well as virtually every other athletic endeavor. Lysak is one of the original Ironmind Captains of Crush. He is also a certified coach in the Battling Ropes System, under
John Brookfield. Being the son of reality fighting pioneer Grandmaster Walt Lysak Sr., Charlie Lysak has over 30 years experience in the martial arts and is well known for his expertise in reality fighting as well as strength training. He is a 9th degree Black Belt and co-founder of the Sento Method. Additionally, Lysak holds the rank of 7th degree Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu, 6th Degree Black Belt in Pankration, 6th Degree Black Belt in Kickboxing under the legendary Joe Lewis, as well as high level ranks in several other styles and systems. Lysak has been a coach for many Champion submission grappling and MMA fighters, more than 40 of them nationally rated in the Top Ten. Lysak is a member of numerous Martial Arts Halls of Fame, and has received many accolades for both, martial arts and strength training.


DAVID W. MORGAN

David Morgan has a Masters Degree in Health and Exercise Physiology. Additionally, he is credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, with Distinction and National Strength and Conditioning Assoc. Certified Personal Trainer with Distinction (CSCS-D). Dave is also a Level I
Kettlebell Instructor with KBC. Dave is President/Owner of Enhanced Fitness and Performance Inc. and he is a certified Red Cross Instructor. Dave coached wrestling for 36 years at Maple Heights High School, one of Ohio’s premier wrestling programs. Dave has also coached football, cross-country and track & field. Dave was also a nationally-ranked Masters Track and Field athlete and a competitive power lifter. Dave has coached hundreds of successful high school athletes in all of those sports, many going on to be outstanding competitors in college, including All-Americans in all 3 NCAA Divisions.


HAKIM ISLER

Hakim Isler is the Founder of Elite Guard, LLC, a martial arts, fitness and security training company. He has been involved in the martial arts for 22 years and in the security field for the 8 years. He is a second-degree black belt in To-Shin Do (modern ninjutsu) as taught by world-renowned author and Black Belt Hall of Fame member Stephen K. Hayes. He is an ongoing protection specialist student of Executive Security International and is also part of the Spirit Quest Dojo. EMILY BRABON

Emily Brabon is the co-owner of the largest civilian bootcamp fitness provider in the Southern Hemisphere ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP. ANA BROWNE

Ana Browne is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) at the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She is also a Cross-Fit Kettlebell Certified Instructor, BFIT-Certified Flexibility Training Instructor and a certified by the American Red Cross in CPR, AED, First Aid and Blood Bourne Pathogens, which, of course, is in addition to her Battling Ropes Level I Coach certification. Ana competed as a Varsity athlete playing basketball for 4 years, along with volleyball and track. While in college completing her B.S. in Rehabilitation Services at UMES, she was the Women's Basketball Athletic trainer for 3 years, where she helped attend to sports related injuries. Ana is currently a competitive figure model in the body building industry, competing in the Organization of Competitive Bodybuilding. MINDY GAGLIARDI



Mindy Gagliardi is an ACE certified personal trainer. She is also an avid runner, racing anywhere from 5 to 50K's and everything in between. Mindy has qualified for the Boston Marathon 3 times and consistently places in her age group at local running events. Mindy loves to train others to become faster, smarter, more efficient and happier runners. Not a runner yet, she loves helping you get started too! Mindy also loves to work with young athletes. A former teacher, basketball and track coach, she is uniquely qualified to train young people. Mindy was also a NCAA Div-II All-American and National Player of the Year in basketball as well as 1st team all state in high school. GARY ROCK

Gary Rock is a personal trainer in the Long Island area of New York where he has worked for the past 6 years helping clients from all walks of life to achieve their fitness goals. In addition to being a certified Battling Ropes Level I coach, he has also received a Holistic Lifestyle Coaching certification through the CHEK Institute and is certified in Functional Movement Screening by Gray Cook and Lee Burton. These and several other certifications give him a very Holistic approach to training. He uses any modality that he feels will help benefit his clients and bring them closer to their goals in a safe and effective manner. In addition to personal training, Gary also conducts local seminars on Kettlebell training that are geared toward personal trainers wanting to improve their knowledge base. He has a passion for learning and teaching and it shows in the way he conducts himself both personally and
professionally. His third passion, next to personal training and educating other trainers, is training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is a purple belt under UFC competitor Matt Serra and trains out of his school in Huntington Long Island. Gary has helped several up and coming BJJ competitors and MMA fighters get ready for their competitions and fights in the past year and plans to pursue fighter preparation a little more seriously in the next couple of years. D.J. WHITE MUNSON


D.J. White Munson is CEO and Founder of P & P Journey's, LLC, in Minnesota. She is certified as a personal trainer, a golf biomechanic, a corrective exercise specialist, and pilates instructor. As a tenured professional of 17 years, she has worked for and participated with profit and non-profit organizations. She has competed in body building and power lifting with her favorite lift being a 345 pound deadlift! ROGER FREI

Roger Frei is a Battling Ropes coach from Australia. He has always been involved with fitness. Roger raced BMX from the age of 4, competing at the state level between 8 and 12 years old. He has done 5 years of various martial arts ranging from taekwando, ninjutsu, muaythai kickboxing, and boxing. Roger competed in the INBA, he is an accredited personal trainer with Certificate III in fitness, Certificate III as a sports trainer, and a diploma in fitness. Roger is able to incorporate a lot of stability and balance, modified gymnastic strength exercises, kettlebells, Battling Ropes and every other item which may be used to help with fitness. He trains every age group of the population from children to athletes to disabled & elderly. He helps a lot of clients with rehabilitation from injuries. Roger is always attending gym education programs, workshops and certifications, especially for exercises on the shoulders
and back. While he is not a dietitian, Roger has in-depth and extensive knowledge in nutrition. He has been a personal trainer for 6 years and was the manager of Perfect Balance, a personal training studio. Roger just loves to help people train and reach their potential, which has helped him keep on track with being a psychologist specializing in sport & exercise. He is currently in his third year as a student of psychology at the Curtin University of Technology. TRUONG TRAN

Truong Tran has always been a fan of health and fitness. Growing up, he has been involved in soccer, martial arts, basketball, and football. Truong has obtained certifications with the American Aerobic Association International & International Sports Medicine Association, the National Council On Strength & Fitness and is now a Battling Ropes Level I Coach. JOHN McKENNA

John McKenna has been the Athletic Performance Director for all Notre Dame High School Athletic Teams for the last 11 years. In addition, he has over 25 years experience as a strength coach from youth to professional athletes. Some of his clients include NFL, USL, and MLB athletes. He is also the Strength Coach for Rider University Swimming and Diving and TCNJ football. Coach McKenna was the first strength coach inducted into the NJ Coaches Hall of Fame. He also has and continues to consult for several collegiate, semi professional and professional organizations. V.J. Lirio is a strength and conditioning coach, fitness instructor and martial arts enthusiast. He is the first to receive the Battling Ropes Level I Coach in the state of New Jersey. V.J. has been involved in martial arts for many years and is also a certified personal trainer. SHAWN MANNING
Shawn Manning is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and the first RKC Instructor and Battling Ropes Coach in Wilmington, NC. She has been training since 1999 and presently works at Lumina Fitness near Wrightsville Beach. Starting in September 2008, Shawn will begin offering group strength and conditioning classes that will incorporate Battling Ropes, kettlebells, sandbags and other fun and torturous tools. DR. MIKE MARTINO
Mike Martino completed his undergraduate degree at Furman University in Health and Physical Education in 1988. From 1990 through 1996, he completed his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Exercise Physiology at the University of Alabama. During his tenure at Alabama, he served as an assistant coach to the varsity swim team. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he also served as a research lab assistant in the Human Performance Laboratory. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association and he is a Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Rocky Mountain Cancer Rehabilitation Institute in Greely, Colorado. Dr. Martino has been involved with world-class athletes for more than 20 years. He served as a USA National Team Swimming Coach from 1990 through 2000. He was also a member of the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Advisory Coaching Staff in Barcelona and Atlanta. His educational and coaching expertise have allowed him to travel to many different countries for various professional engagements. His favorite sites have been Russia, Spain, and Cuba. He recently conducted a presentation entitled Battling Ropes: A New Training Concept at the NSCA National meeting in Atlanta, GA, with John Brookfield. Currently, Dr. Martino serves as the Exercise Science Program Coordinator and Human Performance Laboratory Director at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. He is the current NSCA Southeast Regional Coordinator and the Georgia State Director. He is an avid mixed martial artist who teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Milledgeville Academy of Mixed Martial Arts. He is an extremely dynamic presenter who combines science and application. He travels around the country presenting on various topics associated with performance physiology and conditioning.


CATHERINE IMES
Catherine Imes currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri. She started working out with free weights 20 years ago in High School. Catherline is a certified Battling Ropes Instructor and is a RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) Level 2 Certified Instructor and a Kettlebell Sport/Girevoy Sport Competitor. She is the current American Record holder in the Snatch with 200 total Snatches at the NAKF Nationals in San Diego. Catherline is the first U.S. Born Master of Sports.


JAMES P. CLEAR
James Clear is a lifelong fitness enthusiast with interest in physical training and functional strength. He was involved in swimming, basketball and baseball growing up along with outside farm work. James has a BS/BA degree in Marketing and is certified to teach K-12 in Physical Education & Health. He was involved in baseball and was a pitcher at Xavier University and in St. Louis Cardinals organization. He was introduced to Olympic style lifting in 1979 and participated in meets in 1993 and 1994. James is looking to use Ropes certification training to help the young and elderly with overall fitness and well being.


CHRIS MIZE
Chris Mize lives in Birmingham, Alabama and has over 25 years experience in fitness and mixed martial arts training. He was the first person to open an MMA-only school in Alabama and has cornered fighters all over the world. He holds black belts in Judo & jiu-jitsu and also teaches muay thai kickboxing. Chris has studied with a virtual who's who in MMA: Gene LeBell, Bas Ruttan, Marco Ruas, and Oleg Taktarov to name a few. An instructor under MMA legend Erik Paulson, he currently is the civilian combatives instructor for the 20th Special Forces Group in Birmingham. Chris is an expert with kettlebells and just about any other combat fitness implement. He was honored to become a coach under John Brookfield and add the Battling Ropes to his arsenal. Being in the healthcare field, he plans on implementing the ropes into fitness programs for bariatric patients and the more debilitated in his community as well.


VANESSA HOOD
Vanessa M. Hood is a Champion Powerlifter and is employed as the Director of Campus Fitness at Winston-Salem State University. She's an AAU World Powerlifting Raw Masters first-place Champion, World Record holder in the Bench Press & the Deadlift, Best Raw Masters Bencher, and an AAU National Push/Pull Raw Masters first-place Champion. Vanessa is a natural and drug-free champion powerlifter with a career as a fitness professional.


MICHELLE BENEDICT
Michelle Benedict received a degree in 2001 from Brigham Young University in exercise physiology. She is a collegiate athlete who specializes in strength and conditioning and the treatment of sports-related injuries. Michelle is a USA Weightlifting Club Coach, CrossFit Level II instructor, Catalyst Athletics Level I Coach, and Battling Ropes Level I Coach. She has had the opportunity to coach many National Champion Cheerleading Squads, as well as be an active competitor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She excels in Olympic Weightlifting and continues to increase her skill set of strength and conditioning through many Continuing Education programs. Michelle coaches athletes of various levels of ability to success through a variety of protocols. She has designed High School Football, Cheer and Soccer Programs to Kids Healthy Living programs. Michelle has extensive experience in rehabilitation of sports-related injuries; She had the pleasure of working with athletes at Performance Chiropractic, CrossFit NC, CrossFit Cape Fear, and she is the founder of CrossFit Fort Bragg. Michelle administers to athletes with Functional Movement evaluations, and appropriate corrective protocol. Prior to CrossFit, she had the opportunity to learn a diverse understanding of Orthopedics, where she assisted for 3 years. She enjoys sharing time with people that can make her laugh, and, of course, training!

Adam Wharton is the National Director of Personal Training Development for Bally Total Fitness. JAY SIMON
Jay Simon has a passion for fitness which started on an Ohio wrestling mat at the age of five. He has since trained in power lifting, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Thai Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. This experience, along with his in-depth knowledge of fitness, keeps his clients engaged and challenged through a well-balanced selection of strength and conditioning exercises.
